New tote, getting ready for market. Slow and steady.

I don’t mass produce. I can do very little “batch processing”. Heck, sometimes I can’t even pull together supplies in advance.

I let the fabric, the print, the decided up bag/pillow/etc speak to me as I stitch things together. Maybe it doesn’t want a pocket. Maybe it wants short handles instead of long. Maybe it wants a giant frayed flower instead of delicate embroidery.

I make it up as I go. Great art rarely moves quickly.

It was supposed to be sort of warm today. It’s 1

It was supposed to be sort of warm today. It’s 1:15 pm and I’ve already had to abandon the “clean the studio” project because the rain brought with it some very cold breezes. I did make some progress, found the floor, and put away a few big items.

The big issue out there is my over abundant piles of clothes and such that are waiting to be repurposed. Two weeks ago, I processed two large tubs of clothes and reduced my “pile” in half. Today, I grabbed some sheets that were taking up a lot of space and brought them inside to prep for their future use. With help from the kids, I managed to get two sheets turned into “yarn”. Two sheets took an hour and a half. At minimum wage, that’s $18 worth of labor for what you see in this photo.

Repurposing or upcycling discarded items and giving them a new life is a wonderful way to reduce waste….but it is definitely faster to just run into a big box store and buy my materials ready to go.

I’m getting excited y’all. There’s been a LO

I’m getting excited y’all. There’s been a LOT of big things happening with our close family these past few weeks, so my deadlines and plans had to be nudged out a bit, and then there is lovely tech issues today with dns servers and a bad storm, BUT exciting changes are coming…..

Here’s a hint of what you can be looking for…..

The blog is back….stories, diys, patterns, and more with easy links to the shop where you’ll find…

Everything made mostly from upcycled materials!!!

And I’ll be the first to admit that the “style” won’t be everyone’s taste, and that’s okay….for at least the next 365 days I’m committing to a niche, a style, a theme….. with products that can be bundled together with other products I make and/or products my friends make (Spa Days by S&L Designs and The Festive Circle) to create wonderful gifts and gift baskets!!!

I am not going to say flatly that there won’t be any custom orders this year, because I don’t like turning anyone away, but they will be considered on a project by project basis.

I promise if you stop by my booth this year, you find something totally unique and very, very peculiar.
